RIGHT FROM THE START
Facilitator Training Workshop

September 30th and October 1st, 2010

What is Right from the Start?

Right from the Start is an attachment-based 8-session course for parents of infants under 2.  The course was designed by Dr. Alison Niccols to enhance parents' skills in reading infant cues and responding sensitively.  Right from the Start uses the COPE (Community Parent Education) model of active adult learning for effective large group parenting courses, and has evidence on its effectiveness.  Right from the Start is especially appropriate to those at risk for social, emotional, behavioural, and/or developmental difficulties.  These parenting courses have been conducted in child care settings, children's treatment centres, family resource centres, churches, schools, recreation centres, prisons, and hospitals.  A detailed facilitator manual and DVD have allowed Right from the Start courses to be conducted successfully throughout Canada.
