Scot
Cooper
Scot has been a faculty member
at Brief Therapy Training Centres International (a division of the Hincks-Dellcrest
Institute) for the past four years. He's the Director of The
Brief & Narrative Therapy Network and
Supervisor Child Clinical Services/ Brief Services at
a Children’s
Mental Health Centre in rural Ontario Canada. Scot's professional journey has allowed him to apply the ethics and thinking of narrative and solution focused therapies in contexts with youth in group homes, schools, and individual and family therapy settings. Most recently Scot was part of the Neighbouring Communities Initiative as part of the community team in Caledonia and Six Nations. Scot's passion is single session therapy where he continues to investigate what is possible in time limited therapeutic conversations.
His
most recent publications include,Co-composing an Evidence Base: the narrative therapy revisiting project co-authored with Karen Young , Impressions
of Hope and Its Influence In the Process Of Change: an international e-mail
trialogue,
and When All the Time You
Have Is Now: single session and time limited intervention utilizing brief
and narrative therapy. He
has organized four international conferences highlighting the ideas and
practice of brief and narrative therapy with a special interest in continuing
to move the work forward through idea sharing, networking and connections
with colleagues
Scot
enjoys, most of all, the time with his kids and family, as he’s the
proud parent of twins, Ben and Grace. The life lessons taught to him
by his children trickle into his presentations in stories that serve to illuminate
the theoretical backdrop of his practice. Scot’s high energy
and engaging style make for a lively and clear presentation.
