Taken together, the Hincks-Dellcrest Foundation, the Institute and the Treatment Centre is the inspired product of years of dedicated labour in the service of children's mental health. Our work is predicated on the highest standards of academic and scientific enquiry, and our programs have proven their ability to impact and benefit not just individual children and families, but whole communities. This passion for learning and service is matched only by our role in the education of future leaders. Hincks-Dellcrest is committed to building the skills and networks of aligned professionals in the fields of psychiatry, psychology, social work, child care, early childhood education, nursing, and law. This multi-disciplinary orientation is essential, allowing us to 'multiply' and accelerate the impact of our pioneering work - both nationally and internationally.
We believe that all persons have inherent worth and dignity. We believe that seeking help for mental health problems is a sign of health and strength. We believe that every infant, child, youth and family is different, and we respect their unique resources, needs and culture. This too we believe. Each of us must work together to place children's mental health higher on the public agenda so that our health care dollars can be invested more productively. Our children are suffering today. If we allow the problem to continue, we deny ourselves the stable base upon which a productive society can and should be built.
