Hincks-Dellcrest

Educational Placement

Hincks-Dellcrest has a long tradition of professional training in child and youth work, nursing, psychiatry, psychology, social work, and early childhood education. The Treatment Centre's commitment as a teaching centre is to help the community to ensure that future service providers are well equipped to deal with the present and future challenges of service delivery.

In affiliation with the University of Toronto, training for both career track child psychiatrists and general psychiatrists is provided as part of the training program of the Division of Child Psychiatry at the University.

Formal placements also are provided to child and youth work students, social work students, and graduate-level psychology students from a number of colleges and universities. Predoctoral clinical internships are available to psychology trainees.

In addition, the Hincks-Dellcrest Treatment Centre collaborates with the Hincks-Dellcrest Institute in providing advanced training in psychiatry, psychology, and social work, through Fellowship positions of one or two years' duration. Trainees holding these Fellowships carry joint appointments as junior staff of the Treatment Centre.

The Treatment Centre provides a wide array of seminars, conferences, and workshops to mental health trainees and students at all levels of training.
